During Unit 2, sixth grade students explored the biodiversity and essential factors of different ecosystems, learning that populations consist of all species that occur together at a given place and time.  They investigated organisms within food webs and categorized those populations as producers, consumers, and decomposers.  They also learned that organisms compete for limited resources and that the number of organisms an ecosystem can support depends on the resources available.  In the end, students  used this information to create research an organism of their choice, and identify its niche within a Biome / Ecosystem.  For their communication tool they could have created a poster, a mobile, a diorama, used  Google Slides or Powtoons, or created a video.
