Boys Can’t Read YA (young adult)?!?!?!

Eva Kung-Bi

Okay, so this is a rather controversial topic, and before I get into too much depth, I want to mention that these are all my opinions,  and you can agree or disagree with me all you want.

So. What I’ve been noticing is that the common stereo type for young adult books are that every single book is geared towards 12 year old girls. Now, I didn’t think much of this stereotype (because it’s a stereotype, and those don’t matter), but then I got into a conversation about books with a friend, and she also admitted that she didn’t think that the Young Adult (YA) genre is geared towards both genders. Now, I personally think that as long as you are able to read, and as long as you want to read, you can read what ever you want to.  But, judging that A LOT of YA authors are male, I personally think that this stereotype is ridiculously stupid. OF COURSE THERE ARE YA BOOKS THAT GUYS WOULD LIKE!!!!!!!! TAKE A REALITY CHECK PEOPLE!!!!!!

Okay, in case you still aren’t sold on the whole “YA is geared towards both genders and everything in-between” thing, I’m here to break down 10 YA books with male protagonists, 10 male YA authors, AND 7 male Booktubers (youtubers that talk about books). BAM! Did you doubt me?
